Dapto Citizens do battle at Umina Beach

As the conditions were perfect for a great days bowling at Umina beach with no wind and beautiful sunshine, Dapto Citizens set about taking the game to their worthy opponents Cabramatta. As the match got underway it was Cabramatta that jumped out the gates early with a 10 - 4 lead after 10 ends. Dapto were quick to rectify this situation clawing their way back to trail 14 - 11 after 15 ends and struck a blow to Cabra on the 19th end with Marj McGartland team scoring a 4 reducing the deficit to 3 as the score read 18 - 15 to Cabra. The game got closer and closer until they were inseparable at 23 a piece on the 29th end with each skips last bowl being the decider of the end. As the crowd became more involved with cheers and roars; Dapto Citizens pushed into the lead for the first time in the match on the 35th end to lead by 1 shot although Cabramatta's Jess Watkins was quick to response by playing a massive shot snatching 2 shots from the Dapto girls. This seemed to lift the Cabra side who managed to round out the match 35 shots to 33 leaving the Dapto Citizens girls with 1 point from a possible 5.

The afternoon was another affair altogether for the Dapto girls as they were the ones to jump out the blocks first playing against the Lithgow City side. After 10 ends the Dapto girls were looking comfortable at 12 - 6 in front and managed to maintain their lead with ease at 27 to 18 on the 22 end. With the temperature dropping and the light fading, the Dapto girls kept their cool by slowly but surely picking up shots to finish the game 45 to 32 and showing they truly are a force to be reckoned with. Good luck tomorrow Dapto Champs!!
