About Us

Ian Hopper started up Bangor Insurance Brokers in 1987, located in the southern suburbs of Sydney, after working in several management positions for two leading Australian Insurers for 20 years. Ian decided to move into Insurance Brokering where he could represent his clients and provide professional service.

Down the track he took on two partners and the name changed to MHM Insurance Brokers, based in Miranda, south of Sydney. The business started to grow and as it moved into Bowling Club Insurance the number of Clubs increased rapidly. BCiB was born.

Over time, the other partners left the business, so Ian and wife Dianne continued on, moving further south to base the office in their home town of Wollongong. Then another name change, to Domina General Insurance Brokers, along with a move to larger premises in the current location of Port Kembla.

Family members have joined the staff along the way, with our longest serving staff member being here for 14 years. Ian and Dianne's son Blake and daughter Kate now work in the business, ensuring it will be around for many more years.

The company now employes 18 dedicated staff and have over 900 Bowling Club Clients throughout Australia.

We are Lawn Bowls major sponsor, contributing $450,000 annually back to the sport.
