NSW Junior Represents ACT; 12 year old shines at Park Beach
Eden Bowling Club on the Far South Coast of NSW has developed a promising junior bowler in 15 year old Tom Griffin. Tom is undertaking a bowls scholarship with the South East Region Academy of Sport and is being tutored by the Eden coach and players. With the trip to Sydney too far to travel to trial for the NSW junior side, Tom instead opted for the ACT trials in closer Queanbeyan. Many weekends and hundreds of Kilometres later, Tom was chosen in the ACT Junior side.
The Park Beach club on the NSW North Coast staged it's annual Mens's Open Pairs in August with a shy 12 year old bowler stealing the show. Josh Hicks paired with skip Alan Carver to finish a narrow second in the carnival, going down 136-133 over the 2 days.
